Lamb Jalfrezi

Jalfrezi is a very popular and exotic dish. This is the first time I made it and it turned out to be good.
Ingredients:
500gms Lamb cut in medium sized pieces
1 large onion cubed
1 tomato cubed
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 tablespoon ghee/oil
salt

For Marination:
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
salt
Marinate the lamb pieces with the spice and keep for 1 hr. Boil till they get cooked.Drain and keep them aside.

For the curry:
1 large onion sliced
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon poppyseeds
4-5 green chilli peppers
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1 tablespoon ghee/oil
1 cup yogurt
Add the oil in a pan and saute all the ingredients till they turn brownish.Let it get cooled for sometime. Take out and grind everything with yogurt to make a thick paste.

Add the oil in a pan and fry the onions till they start turning moist. Add the prepared curry paste. saute for 3 minutes and add the tomato.Stir fry till the paste becomes a thick gravy. Add cumin powder,coriander powder,chilli powder and salt with some water.Add the already cooked lamb pieces. Cover cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.Serve hot.

My Today's Look



Eyes: I tightlined my eyes with a kajal stick and applied a black Kohl pencil on the upper eyelid. I used a beige coloured shadow on my lids and brightened my lashes with a volumnising mascara.
Products used:Lotus kajal stick, MAC eye pencil in Black,Smashbox eyeshadow,Avon volumnising mascara.

Cheeks: I used a powder bronzer to give a sunny glow.
Products used: Dior powder bronzer

Lips: I used a nude lip colour.
Products used: Park Avenue Lipstick No.3

Sweet & Sour Salmon with Basil

Basil is one of my favourite ingredients. I tried last night's dinner with this recipe.

Ingredients:
450 gms Salmon cut in 4 medium pieces
1 large onion cubed
1 yellow bell pepper cubed
salt
1 tablespoon oil
Sauce:
Mix
1/2 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon fish sauce
For marination and gravy paste:
10 peppercorns
3 cloves garlic
1/2 inch ginger
3 basil leaves
1 teaspoon lime juice
Grind these ingredients and make a paste. Rub half of the paste on the fish and keep it for half n hour.
Heat 1/2 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan. Add the fish pieces and fry till they become golden brown. Keep them aside.Add rest of the oil and fry the onions and bell pepper till they are tender. Add the gravy paste and salt and fry till everything is browned. Add the mixed sauce and add the fried fish. Cover and keep for 2-3 minutes on low flame. Take out of stove and serve hot.

Today's Looks

These days I am much into dark matte lips. I had always been a gloss girl...but somehow recently I have started liking matte lips.I experimented with 2 different looks today.

1. The first look is meant for the day. It is slightly lighter.


Eyes:I used a black eye pencil to line the upper eyelid.I had tightlined my eyes.

Products Used:MAC eye pencil in Black.Lotus kajal stick.

Lips: I used a hot pink colored lipliner to line and fill in my lips.

Products used: Elizabeth Arden lip definer in Vivid Pink


2. The second look is ideally for the night.


Eyes:I used a dark brown eye pencil to line the upper eyelid. I used a mascara to brighten my lashes.

Lips: I used a dark plum lip pencil to outline and fill in my lips for the dark matte look.

The Town Hall & St.Peter's Church

The Market Square with the Town Hall & the wonderful St. Peter's Church, is the most happening place in Leuven.The Town Hall is one of the most magnificent buildings I have ever seen.
The preparations for Christmas is on full flow. The place has been decorated wonderfully. I went for a stroll yesterday and took these pictures.

My Today's Look

Yesterday, I watched the remake of "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark".Although, not quite a fan of the movie,what I loved most was Katie Holmes'minimalistic makeup with kohl-lined eyes and dark brown lips which reminded me much of the 90s. I thought to experiment with that makeup idea today.

Eyes: I used a grey eyepencil to line my eyes and winged a little at the outer corners.
Product used: Looking Good Eyeliner Pencil in Grey

Lips: I dont use browns on my lips,so I hardly have any brown lipstick.I used a lip pencil to outline and fill my lips.

Mixed Vegetables Dry Curry

Last week we had shopped so much vegetables from the grocery, I had to finish off everything.So I decided to use some of them in 1 dish.

Ingredients:
1 small cauliflower cut in small florets
1 carrot in small cubes
1 orange bell pepper in small cubes
1 small tomato cut in fours
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

For Dry curry:
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt
Add these ingredients in a bowl and make a paste with 2 tablespoons water.

Heat the oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add the cauliflower florets and saute till it starts turning light brown at the edges. Add the carrot,bell pepper and ginger.Stir fry them till they become a bit tender. Add the tomato and saute till the pulp gets mixed with the rest of the vegetables. Add the dry curry paste.Mix thoroughly so that the vegetables get coated with it.Cover and let it cook for sometime.Before taking out of the stove check if the vegetables are cooked.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Egg in Dark Sauce

After a long time I made eggs last evening.

Ingredients:
4 boiled eggs
1 large onion sliced
1 tomato cubed
1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon chopped ginger
1 tablespoon oil

For the Dark Sauce:
1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
1 teaspoon soya sauce
1/2 teaspoon red chilli sauce
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
Salt
Mix these sauces in a bowl.

Add the oil in a pan and wait till its heated. Then add the eggs and saute till the skin starts getting light brown.Keep the eggs aside.Put the onion,ginger & garlic in the oil and saute till they are browned.Add the tomato and stir till the oil seperates.Add the sauce and coat the ingredients with it thoroughly.Pour the cooked sauce over the eggs.Serve hot.

Masala Eggplant

I love eggplant,however when it comes to cooking,most of the time I cant think of anything else other than frying. This time I tried something new.

Ingredients:
600 gms eggplant cut in small cubes
1 large tomato cubed
1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste
For the gravy:
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Take these in a bowl and mix with 3 tablespoons water to form a paste.

Heat the oil in a pan and shallow fry the eggplants.Keep them aside.Add the tomato to the remaining oil. Saute till it becomes tender and releases oil. Add the gravy paste and salt.Add the fried eggplants and mix thoroughly so that they get coated with the gravy paste.Cover and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.Serve hot.
