Nutty Chicken

I had some walnuts and hazelnuts and I thought of preparing some dish with those.

450 gms chicken cut in medium sized pieces
2 onions sliced
1 tomato cubed
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 inch stick cinnamon
3-4 cardamom pods
3-4 cloves
2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
2 tablespoons oil

For the gravy:
handful of walnut and hazelnut
1/2 cup yogurt
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds
1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
Dry roast the nuts,peppercorns coriander and poppy seeds.Then blend in with the yogurt and salt in the blender into a thick creamy paste.
Marinate the chicken with 1 teaspoon garam masala powder,1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder. Then boil them in sufficient water till they are tender. Keep them aside. Heat oil in a pan and add the whole spices. wait till they splutter and saute the onions till they become translucent.Add ginger-garlic paste and saute till they start browning. Then add the tomato cubes and stir fry till everything becomes dark brown. Add the prepared nuts & yogurt paste,remaining turmeric & chilli powders and some salt. Mix them thoroughly till the oil starts seperating. Add the boiled chicken and 1/2 cup of water. Cover and wait for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining garam masala powder and remove from stove. Serve hot.
