Top 10 Healthy Beverages

Most of us love beverage.We may consume it in form of juices or drinks.Have we ever thought what are the best for us?Apart from the taste, we should consider the food value as well.

10.Apple Juice
Apple juice has a significant concentration of natural phenols of low molecular weight (including chlorogenic acid, flavan-3-ols, and flavonols) and procyanidins[4] that may protect from diseases associated with aging due to the antioxidant effects which help reduce the likelihood of developing cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

9.Tea

Tea leaves contain more than 700 chemicals, among which the compounds closely related to human health are flavanoids, amino acids, vitamins (C, E and K), caffeine and polysaccharides. Moreover, tea drinking has recently proven to be associated with cell-mediated immune function of the human body.

8.Orange Juice

Orange juice contains 120 mg of Vitamin C and is a source of antioxidant Hesperidin that may reduce cholesterol.It contains potassium,thiamin and folate which are beneficial for our health.

7.Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice contains phytochemicals, which may help prevent cancer and cardiovascular disease.Cranberry juice may help prevent and relieve the symptoms of urinary tract infections by primary and secondary means.

6.Acai Juice

Often called a Super Fruit, Acai Juice is known to have the most nutritious benefits in a fruit available to the market. It is recorded to have the Highest Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC) value of any other berry known.

5.Black Cherry Juice

Black cherriy juice is said to have antioxidant properties and is good for preventing diseases like Gout & arthritis.Consumption of the juice can ensure less risk of muscle damage.

4.Blueberry Juice

Recent work indicates that blueberries contain compounds having anti-cancer properties. They act to induce enzymes that protect against cancer and reduce rapid tumor growth.

3.Concord Grape Juice

Concord grapes are loaded with various kinds of flavonoids, a type of powerful antioxidant that is also found in berries, cocoa, red wine, and tea. In fact, purple Concord grape juice ranks the highest in antioxidant activity among 13 juices tested, according to a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry in March 2007. 


2.Red Wine

European researchers suggest that moderate daily intake of red wine (22-32 g of alcohol) has a protective effect on all-cause mortality.  One of the well-known and most studied benefits of red wine is its heart protective effect.  Red wine intake reduces the risk of kidney stone formation.

1.Pomegranate Juice

Preliminary research suggests that the fruit juice may play a role in reducing the risk of cancer, reducing serum cholesterol, and protecting arteries from clogging.A peer-reviewed study showed that men who had undergone surgery or radiation therapy for prostate cancer could significantly slow the increase of prostate specific antigen when they consumed a glass of pomegranate juice daily.

  2. Fruit Juices are really not very healthy-

    1. Acetic acid in the juices destroys the teeth enamel

    2. To make juice we use generally use 3-4 time more fruit than we eat at any one time- this means more calories- make one calorie junkie (BMJ says it not me :|)
