The Good, Bad & Ugly of Serums

I love using skin serums. They are supposed to be very concentrated and so are usually meant for targeted treatments like spot reduction, sculpting or refining pores. I will be discussing about some serums that I have used over the years and that have been either incredibly beneficial or total waste of money.

                                                                Anti-Aging

     1.Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Serum:
Probably the first skin serum I have used. I don't know may be was too young at that time to use an anti-aging staff but it broke me out. I don't have any good experience with the product and never repurchased it since. I have given the staff to my mom and she was ok with it.

2. Christian Dior Capture R60/80 Serum
Again bought at the unsuitable age of my life, this serum did not break me out but was way too oily for my skin. However, if used a little it gave a soft and smoother skin.  This is another product  that went to my mom and she just adored it.

3.The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Serum
This is supposed to address the first signs of aging. This has been my staple favourite till very recently and I think I had used 3 bottles. I quite like the way it has worked for me. Its texture is not that thick and quite suits my combo-oily skin. The skin is really smoothed and softened. A very little amount is required for the face. Quite a product. Definitely repurchase.

4.Pond's Age Miracle Concentrated Resurfacing Serum
Simply wow!! I am using this serum now and it is working way beyond my expectation. I have never expected something extraordinary from this staff. So  I have never bothered to give it a try although it has been around for years. It has a velvety texture that turns my skin soft and fresh. I have seen a lot of improvement on my spots which none of the serums earlier could do except one.

Skin Refiners:

5.Elizabeth Arden Good Morning Skin Serum:
This was a pretty good staff but unfortunately has been discontinued by the company. It revived the skin and made it soft and silky. A very good primer, it made the foundation to even out and blend completely on the skin. Nice staff.

6.Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher:
Very expensive, very popular and one of the classic products I had lot of expectations from this. During my late 20s, my skin started getting large pores and I had to tackle it. I shelled a fortune in buying this staff and it did a fair job. However, I wanted and expected much more just considering the price. It did even out my complexion, but that's what even the Good Morning Serum did in a much lower price.

7.Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer:

This is a really good product. While I did not have luck with the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, this staff was great for my skin. I loved the way it really turned around and smoothed out my skin.

Brightening/Anti-oxidant:

8.Clarins Bright Plus HP Intensive Brightening Smoothing Serum:
I loved this serum, very smoothing, brightening and adequately could reduce the ugly spots caused by acne and breakouts. It brought a certain glow to my skin and my complexion improved gradually.

9.L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Luminize Super Serum
The time I purchased this serum, I was using another awesome serum and so obviously when I compared them both, this one was no good. However, when today I think about this serum, it was not that bad. It gave a beautiful glow to the skin and made the skin quite soft and supple. Like all L'Oreal products it is quite moisturizing which I like. However, how it worked on spots is something which I could not decide as the other serum I was using at that time took care of almost all the problems of skin.

10. Lotus Whiteglow Intensive Skin Whitening & Brightening Serum
Considering the price, I did not have much hope. The 1st thing that was bad about this product is the pump which did not give out any product even after repeated try. AT last I had to open the full cap and the product was a white lotion with a somewhat strong smell. I used it for some days and did not see any change. I gave it some more time and alas nothing happened. Well really cant say much about the product.

11. Neutrogena Fine Fairness Brightening Serum
This is a no-nonsense product and does its job with sincerity. I loved the feel of this product on my skin and the fact that how smooth and fresh it makes my skin. I have seen an improvement in my complexion after I have started using this. Don't expect extraordinary improvements within no time. But if you are someone who wants to give their products some time, this will be definitely helpful.

12.L'Oreal Revitalift White Essence:
Another good product from the house of L'Oreal. It has both brightening and anti-aging effect. What is good is that it hydrates the skin quite well. It is a nice essence and can be given a try. I love the way it makes my skin soft and glowing.

13. Yves -Rocher Cure Solutions 24 Hrs Antioxidant Shield Serum
This is the best ever serum I have used. It addressed each and every problem that I face-fine lines, large pores, uneven skin tone, dullness of skin, skin roughness. Read the detailed review here.

Skin Balancing:

14.The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment Serum:
This serum is just average. It does not do anything exceptional. Yes, it can control excess oil but that's it. Nothing much to say about it.

So here is it...the good, bad & ugly of serums. Let me know of any good serums that you have used.

P.S: This is my personal view and experience and can differ from others.
