Halloween Makeup Look: Shaitani Shabnam

Just imagine you are looking into the mirror all alone in your room and all you see is a reflection of another woman with corpse eyes and blood-stained lips. How will you feel?

So this is the first time I have done a Halloween themed makeup look, that of Shaitani Shabnam. Few years back I was watching a popular horror show on TV. There was this character of Shaitani Shabnam, which is nothing but a Desi version of Bloody Mary. I dont really remember the exact look. However, I tried to make it scary
Products that I have used:

1. Park Avenue White Eye Pencil
2. Yves Rocher Brown Eye Pencil
3. Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick No. 553 in Warm Cedar
4. Avon Glazewear Lipstick in Sheer Beige

First I took the white eye pencil and lined the lower lash line with thick strokes. Then I took the brown eye pencil and created a bloody eye effect under the white line. I used the same shade to make my eye brows prominent.I made a mole on my left cheek with the brown pencil. Now I took the Dark lip colour from Lakme and applied on the centre of my lips. I took the lighter shade and applied along the corners of my lips. That is my simple take on the Shaitani Shabnam look for Halloween.

My 5 Top Favourite Halloween Looks

It has been almost 2 years since I am blogging and I have never spoken about Halloween. But this time since I am into a little bit of makeup looks, I have become quite interested in Halloween Looks. Here is a list of 5 Looks that I like a lot.

1. Bloody Mary

This is a popular urban lore where it is said that if a girl stands in front of a mirror in a room alone and calls "Bloody Mary"for sometimes, the image of Bloody Mary appears on the mirror. Well everyone knows this.

She is my ultimate dream thoughts? Well as a child I wanted to be her, of course after watching Michelle Pleiffer on screen. And I know many may disagree but for me  she was the best for the role.

3. Poison Ivy

I love this beautiful mean woman. The re hair, the green costume and the sexy evil smile....nothing can beat that.

4. Vampire

When as a kid I read the picture book of Dracula, the image of Lucy turning into a deadly vampire haunted me. So, this is the best look that can be achieved on Halloween without much effort.

5. Scary Doll

Last but not the least a scary and deadly doll makeover is sure going to make a mark. You can get the Chucky look or a Japanese doll look. Imagination knows no bounds here.

So how do you plan to dress this Halloween. I will reveal mine shortly.

Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Pure Plum Review and Application

Recently I have been in love with all things Maybelline. Really, I think they are the best budget friendly makeup products. Starting from their Baby Lips, Colossal kajal to the Colour Tattoo eyeshadows, they are just coming up with surprises one after the other. Recently I have bought a lipstick from the Moisture Extreme range of Maybelline. It is the Pure Plum shade in no.844.

Price: Rs. 200+( I got it at Rs 160-20% discount)

Packaging: The lipstick packaging is a shiny red with a silver band in between where the cap meets the body. It looks nice and will be attractive on the vanity.

Description: I did not really like the colour when I saw. However, after much thought I purchased it. I am not sure why it has been called a plum colour as to me it appeared to be from the berry family. The texture of the lipstick is very hydrating and creamy.

My Take: The feel of the product was so good on my lips. It really is extremely hydrating and softening. As it is so creamy and almost like a gloss, I thought it may not last for a long time. However, to my surprise the colour stayed for a very long time. Another good thing is that the colour is very pigmented and just one application is enough to give a rich shade. I loved the way it looked on my lips. The rich shade will suit a special occasion.

I give this lipstick a thumbs up.

NOTD: Ombre Nails

Ombre nails have been recently spotted on almost all fashionistas. There are thousands of tutorials and videos on this rage in YouTube and blogs. I recently tried this trend. It has not come out very perfect but still I don't think it was that bad.

So what is it?

Ombre Nail refers to a type of manicure where a gradient effect is created with the help of 2 or more colours. It can be of the same family or from completely different colour families.

What do you require?

1. A nail strengthening product
2. A base coat (either white or flesh toned)
3. At least 2 nail paints that are not dry.
4. A wet sponge that has been strained of water but should be wet from inside, so that the nail paints get soaked.
5. A nail Paint Remover
7. Top Coat
What I used?
1. Sally Hansen No More Breaks Natural Nail Strengthener
2. Etude Power Lasting Nail Colour in White for the Base
3. Piggy Polish Nail Lacquer in Keep it Teal, Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Cupid, Maybelline New York Color Show nail Polish in Mint Mojito
4. A wet sponge from Hema
5. Etude Nail Paint Remover
6. Q-Tip
7. Maybelline New York Express Finish Transparent Brilliant base for Top Coat.
How I did?
First I used the Sally Hansen nail strengtnener on my nails. Then I used the white colour from Etude to make my base. This is done so that the effect of the colour that you want to put next are prominent. Then I made a horizontal line on the sponge with the teal colour from Piggy Polish. I repeated with the pink colour from Revlon and lime green one from Maybelline. Then I placed the sponge on my nail and pressed lightly. This is where you can put your own creative ideas to work and you can make your own designs. Don't worry if the surrounding areas get messy. Repeat the process if you want the colours to be bright. You need to do the same thing with all the other nails. It can be quite a task... but believe me it is worth the toil. Once you have got the way you desired your nail art to be, start cleaning up the surroundings of your nails which have got stained with a Q-tip dipped in Nail Remover. When everything is tidy and your Ombre nail art has dried, finish off with a top coat. I used the one from Maybelline.
I know it may not have ended as the best of nail art. However, I learnt a new procedure and shared it with you all.

Few Beauty Products I am Loving Recently

I have been trying a lot of beauty products recently, specially in makeup as I try to keep my skincare routine very specific and do not change products too frequently. Lipsticks have always been my weakness since I started using it when in college. My latest love is eyeliners and kajals. Here are some of the products that I am using nowadays and loving.

Maybelline Colossal Kajal 12 Hrs: I have seen lot of products claiming to be waterproof, smudge proof etc etc... but this one beats all. It really stays for a long time without getting smudged, even when I took off my contact lenses, wearing it. It gives the blackest of black in colour. I am sure that I will replace my previous holy grail Lotus Kajal with this one. A must-have for every woman.

Colorbar Full Cover Concealer: I had been using the Garnier Roll on and Avon concealers for quite a long time. This time I wanted to purchase something with a more professional touch. I actually intended to go for Clinique but while shopping I got attracted tor the wide variety of shades Colorbar offers. This product is cool and what I loved most was that it goes with my complexion. I have got the Natural Beige one and it looks good on my skin. While it can cover my blemishes with ease, I guess I have got too much of dark circles recently and need something more effective. But Colorbar Full Cover Concealer is a decent one.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten: I cannot describe how pretty this product is. It is so easy to use and gives a lovely minty sensation on the lips. You can use it to get a subtle stain or apply a few coat to get a more pigmented and bright look. All the shades are nice and suitable for Indian complexion. I love this shade so much that I almost use it on a daily basis.

L'Oreal Infallible Mono Eye Shadow in All Night Blue: I am not that experimental with my eye makeup and just love to use neutral shades. While purchasing this I was a bit confused if it will suit me or I should go for the more safe bet Endless Chocolat. I took a chance and purchased the sexy midnight blue. And what an amazing colour it gives on my lids!! The whole eyes look sultry and deep. The only drawback is it can be worn for special occasions and can be too gorgeous if you are wearing it for some mundane activity.

Nike Fission for Woman Body Splash: I got this staff from a local beauty store in a great deal and I still have doubts if it is original Nike. However, it smells heavenly. Just the kind of staff I love for daily use. The fragrance is refreshing, aquatic and breezy. It is a perfect wear for summers and can be easily carried in your purse. I am not sure if I am going overboard with the description, but I think the fragrance is somewhat unisex and even guys can use it.( My husband will never try :-( )
