Busting Blackheads the Right Way: FaceCare for the Miss India in You

This is an article in response to the ongoing FaceCare for the Miss India in You Contest powered by Neutrogena, conducted by for the upcoming Miss India 2014 Pageant.

Blackheads are blocked pores on the face area, especially on the nose and chin. They appear generally due to excess production of oil and form as small black dots on the affected area. Blackheads appear to be very dirt and ugly on the face, and if not prevented or got rid of initially may increase in due course. So it is better to tackle with them properly.

The main reason of blackheads is an oily skin. Women with oily skin should keep their skin, free of oil. It is very necessary for them to use products that are specially made for their oily skin types. They should use a cleanser that deep cleanses and removes excess oil from the skin. It should essentially remove dirt without leaving any pore-clogging residue.

As we all know, that cleansing, toning & moisturizing are the basic steps of skincare, any skin would require these 3 basic steps to keep itself healthy and beautiful. However, oily skin that suffers from blackheads should essentially use a toner that targets the ugly black heads by removing them and preventing them from developing further. It should have a cooling sensation on the skin that makes the skin feel fresh.

People with oily skin often makes the mistake of skipping the moisturizer altogether, as they feel that it will make the skin more oily. This is a myth. One should use a moisturizer that is made for oily skin, and that will hydrate your skin without making it greasy. This moisturizer will definitely make the skin healthier and will not clog pores.

The most important and effective way to tackle blackheads is to scrub it off. You should use a very high quality scrubber that has salicyclic acid which removes dirt and oil from the face. It should work on areas where a cleanser cannot reach to eliminate dirt and hidden impurities.

There are situations where a simple cleansing, toning and moisturizing is not enough to make your skin look healthy. If your blackheads are very stubborn, you should take help of treatments that can work very effectively on them. The product should have the ability to remove the unwanted excess oil, without affecting the skin's natural oil.

These are some of the basic skincare techniques to fight blackheads. It is very important to check that the products that are used should be dermatologically tested and proven, before investing your money.
