My Skin Care Routine with Clinique 3 Steps

Hey all you beauties, as promised on my FB page, I am here with my updated skin care routine. The focus of the routine is Clinique 3 Steps System. But before I start talking about my routine, I would like to say something about my earlier experience with Clinique. 7-8 years back when Clinique was very new in India, I had tried their 3 Steps System and the SA analysed my skin and found out I was Type 2 skin. I tried the system over a long time and my problems were neither addressed, nor did I find any improvement. I got whiteheads and sometimes even broke out badly. So it was a major failure.

Now, very recently, after a long time, when I purchased some other stuffs from Clinique, I could not control my desire to buy the travel sized set. This time around the SA re-analyzed my skin and found out I am type 3 :-O. Anyway, I bought the kit for Rs.500. I had got it, mainly for my travel purpose, but as I will not have to go anywhere right now, 10 days back I thought of using the products. Checking my skin type, the SA was kind enough to provide a few samples of the Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector & Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer. I am using all the products the way the SA had advised.

I cleanse my face with the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap. This is meant for Combination Oily to Oily skin only. It is a gentle cleanser, but frankly speaking I do not find it refreshing enough. It does not tighten the skin, nor does it make my skin break out, but it does not do anything that you expect from a good cleanser.

Next I use the Clinique Clarifying Lotion in Type 3 for Combination Oily skin. This is the worst toner I have ever used. It instantly causes rashes and irritates my skin. I hate it. And as described, it does not do anything for my enlarged pores and blackheads.

According to the 3 steps system, the next step is to use the moisturizer. However, as per the SA's advice I use the Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Corrector on my spots. Well I have been using it for 10 days and have not found any lightening effect of my spots. Such a dud!!

I have dark circles, so using an eye cream is a must for me. Now I have been using the Olay Total Effects 7 in one Anti-Aging Eye Cream for 3-4 days. I am finding it to be good till now. I have to use it for a few more days to give a detailed review.

Now comes the Clinique Dramatically Diffferent Moisturizerising Gel which i dont find hydrating at all.

The 4th and the last step is using the Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer SPF 20. The good thing about it is it has sunscreen. The bad thing is I do not see any of the claims that it makes.

The 1st 2 Steps are the same at night. The 3rd product I use is a serum, The Body Shop Naturalift Firming Serum. This immediately hydrates my skin and my skin feels quite supple after use.

I finish off my night routine again with the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.

My Experience:

I was very apprehensive to declare this, but I want to be honest and here is the truth, Clinique skin care products do not suit my skin. I have tried twice and failed miserably. The worst is I find that it is darkening my skin and also the usual glow I used to have is missing. I am going to discontinue with the products. I have done skin care experiments like this before for 10-15 days with sample products and none have been so disastrous. Here you can read my review on the Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing System.

Do you use Clinique skin care too? How do you find them to be?
