I am a woman, a daughter, a sister, a wife and may be a mother in future. You are a man, a son, a brother, a husband and a father. The roles we play in life are same, only the names keep on changing. Then why are we not equal? Why when you achieve something you get praised for your hardwork, dedication and talent and when I achieve something I am being asked "what" did I do to achieve that? Why am I been subjected to discrimination in all aspects, just because I am a woman.
No, I do not want the lady's seats in buses and trains. But neither do I want the nudges and budges that you like to inflict on, just because it is crowded. Are you doing the same thing to the boy standing in front of you? Then why only target me? Am I that vulnerable? Am I not going to office every day just as you do? Am I not taking care of my family just as you do? Yes Sir, I do, but you do not see, what you see is only the opportunity to demean me, and you call yourself Man.
Please Sir, take a good look at me, not the way you generally look at, but may be with some depth. The depth that has some respect for what I am, not for how I look. Please look at my face and speak to me, my chest does not utter words. Listen to me when I speak, and do not snub me off just because I am the weaker sex, according to you. I know things, I can speak too, I have thoughts and ideas that needs to be heard and implemented.
Even if I am staying at home and you are working, I want myself to be heard. What you are doing outside, I am doing that at home. Neither I am superior to you, nor am I lesser by any means. We both are creation of Nature and we share equal responsibilities, the means and way we do it are different.
All of us strive to get a better life, strive to achieve something out of it. Then why I do not get the due as you do, on the pretext of being a woman? I do not want more than you, I want to get equal to you. I do not want myself to prove I am better than you. I just want you to know I am similar to you. Please Sir, believe in me, my womanpower. Believe in us, our #WomenPower and give us equality.
